A pop of yellow - landscaping.

I think yellow has to be my favorite accent color.

Does anybody know what this bush is called? One of our bushes in our front yard, at the corner of our house, was destroyed when one of the piers was installed. I think I'd like to plant one of these in it's place.

Yup it's forsythia. We planted one last spring and I love them. I got ours for $10 from Lowe's and it grew about twice the size over the last year. My Grandma always had them (still does) and she's transplanted one to my parents and it's doing well, too. You can just cut a piece from the bottom and replant it. I also love yellow so I want them everywhere but Michael hates the bush!! We went to the zoo yesterday and they have them everywheeeerreeee. They're so pretty in bloom, but it only lasts through Spring. By early Summer they're just green. Here's mine last year, right after I planyed it. This was in April: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3228/2466613522_2d6b48cd16.jpg It's the green bush on the right. It's quite a bit bigger, now. It made it just fine through the winter and bloomed pretty early this year. The yellow will probably all fall off in a month or less.

I love them! I see the purple version of this blooming now too. Aura - my parents have one of these in their backyard - I'll cut from that and replant. Do I just stick it in the ground? Cover it completely?

I thought you had to use little saplings that grew around it, but I just saw this: http://www.aboutforsythia.com/rooting_forsythia.shtml

What I gathered from the article is that you can just use a branch? If so that's a pretty amazing plant. My grandma's just had a bunch of babies growing around it and my mom took one of those.

how funny! this season, i started noticing these yellow bushes all over my city too! i was dying to know what they were because they're just an awesome pop of happiness! i love your blog :) saw it on Cup Of Jo!

Maddie - Aren't they so pretty!? Your comment reminded me that I need to snag a few branches to plant from my parents this weekend. Thanks for stopping by my blog! :)
