Quilts

The biggest project on my plate right now is designing our guest bedroom and all the pieces are coming together quite nicely.

As a wedding gift my mom hooked us up with a vintage wrought-iron bed (that also happened to be my sister's through college), a mattress set and bedding. I told her what I really wanted were some of the quilts that have been in our family FOREVER.

My mom was a little hesitant to give them to me because they are thread-bare and tattered but that's what I love about them.

I was so excited to have them I insisted we sleep under them after bringing them home. I slept like a rock - the quilts all heavy and soft and cool - they just feel like home. Meanwhile, Jeremy had nightmares they were cursed and going to kill us. Nice.

I can't wait to show you all the guest bedroom once everything is in it's place.

Mountain Bride - Thank you for the sweet compliments! I will look forward to the post. :)

As for quilting, I would love to one day pick it up but for now I hardly have time to read a novel. I worked at a fabric store through college and developed a love for sweet calico prints.

i would have probably had the same nightmares. i have this weird thing about beds and not wanting a bed that anyone else has slept in or that is really old and i'm sure that would carry over to old quilts. i think i heard one too many scary stories about beds being cursed or possessed when i was young.
