Wanderlust

I'm distracted, you guys. I'm not perusing the internet for the perfect rug to layer in with my other rugs, I'm not eyeing my next pair of perfect Frye boots, I'm not even thinking of stains for our hardwood floors.

I've got a serious case of wanderlust. I'm craving some adventures. Instead of cruising Urban Outfitters, I'm online shopping for sub-zero down jackets and backpacks from REI. In fact, our most recent purchase was a climbing harness and shoes for each of us.

I've got my sights set on the Himalayas but that's not going to happen for a couple of years - before then we have plans for a cushy New England cruise, backpacking Europe, and hopefully a couple other adventures. Experiencing the world is a new priority and it's consuming my thoughts.

What has been your favorite vacation, mini-vacation, or adventure?

You need to go to Backwoods in OKC and wonder around. Great backpacking store.

I enjoyed my multi night backcountry snow shoeing trip this past Feb. in New Mexico. Well, until I broke thru some ice and twisted my back up.

Wow. This was written well.

Or maybe it wasn't, particularly, and I am wanderlusting as hard as you are right now.

: )

My favorite repeating vacation is Lake Superior, of course.

But I truly believe Europe Oh Ten will be the greatest one-off vacation ever.

UNTIL WE DO IT AGAIN.

I love to travel. My favorite vacations have always been in Europe, Spain is my favorite country and Greece would have to follow. By the way, I haven't received your email with the City Escapes post. Just email me when you have it ready.

You guys really need to go to Wyoming in the fall/winter to hold you over until the Himalayas. Perhaps you need to remind yourself via my vacation folder on Facebook. Some of the stuff in Yellowstone truly looks other worldly!

Ireland has been my favorite, hands down. Costa Rica, Alaska, and Santa Fe/Taos/Los Alamos/Bandalier were also all pretty awesome though.

Gah that first picture is beautiful. We're obsessed with REI! In July when we went to Colorado, as soon as we got to Boulder the first thing we did was check into our hotel and immediately googled an REI and spent a couple hours there. My favorite places for vacations are Eureka Springs, the Rocky Mountains, and any sort of a beach.

Ashley - YES. I really want to visit Wyoming. We were about to book our honeymoon per your recommendation but there was a snowmobile conference going on and the hotel manager was all "seriously - even the locals leave town during this conference".

Aura - I really want to take a Rocky Mountain vacation within the next year. I'll holler at you for tips!

Turkey is awesome! I love Istanbul, but if you have time try to go to the Aegean or Mediterranean coast (or the Black Sea!). I've never been to other Black Sea countries, but would love to.

Can't say enough about Ireland (if you go, be sure to visit both the Republic and the North), and have the fondest memories of Vietnam.

Now just wish I had more moolah to travel longer.

i just got back from the South Island of New Zealand and it was truly spectacular - some amazing scenery, great food and wine, and some crazy adventures (helicopter flight over glacier for example!). i recommend if you ever get the chance :)

Cinque Terre in Italy....5 little coastal towns laced together by only foot trails or the trains. Beautiful blue green waters. You wouldn't be too far from the Italian Alps either!

If you go to Wyoming, maybe stop in Montana...the southeastern corner of it that I've been to is beautiful.
