Our Water is Electrified
Jeremy recently told me that he feels like our water is stinging his hand when he does the dishes. And then he noticed a buzzy feeling in his fingertips one day. I thought he might be having a stroke or something but it turns out our water is electrified.
Jeremy brought home some tools from work (he's an electrical/software engineer) and tested it out.
It turns out we have close to 60V of electricity in our water!
It was a blast making all of my friends shock themselves last night and debating the side effects of drinking electrified water.

That is CRAZY! What in the world causes it?
Megan - I actually didn't explain that in the post because I was afraid I would get it wrong...
But because our house is so old I think some of the grounding or neutral lines are sitting on our water pipe in the basement to help ground the electricity (or something like that).
Holy moly, that's crazy! Is this common in old houses?
Woah - that's crazy. I hope you can fix it. I wouldn't drink it!
I used to get that sensation from the water in my parents outdoor hose faucet. I wonder if they've ever noticed it... I always just thought I was crazy!
hahahahaha! that's hilarious! i'll have to tell levi about this whenever he thinks i'm going crazy over one thing or another. if water can be electrified then all sorts of other things can happen.
That is nuts! A friend of mine actually got vaguely eletrocuted in a shower in India...they somehow were heating the water with hot wires? Here's hoping you can de-electrocute your water...
have you seen this?:

Laura - that is crazy! Jeremy thinks that our bath water (on a separate line) isn't affected - but I made sure to ask about it.
O&P:Melina - that is REALLY crazy!
that is crazy! i didnt even know it was possible!
Haha, well now that doesn't sound dangerous at all ^_^
