J & K: The web site

Since announcing that I will be quitting my job as Senior Art Director at the amazing ad agency to go it alone I've been getting lots of questions/advice. Mostly concerning the blog, a need for a legit web site and questions about my business name. This post is addressing the web site issue.
I've decided to stay here at jeremyandkathleen.blogspot.com for now. It's where I started back when I didn't know how to size my pictures to fit my margins and it's the little place on the internet I call home. Blogger has some really great functionality, it's easy to use and completely free - and I've got a lot of friends here. For now there is no reason not to utilize it.
However, I have decided to give this little blog a little remodel - and above you can see the sneak peek. A good friend of mine is helping me apply this facelift to my blog within the next few weeks. Because I'm impatient I went ahead and updated the header to what it's going to be.
Since announcing my big life changes you guys have been amazingly supportive. You're sending me work and fabulous opportunities. Thank you (again) times a million.

Heavy on the ampersand--love it! :)
Woo! Looks fab!
I'm excited to see the final product!! :D
Yay! Very snazzy. (And I'm glad you're staying on Blogger.)

The header looks lovely! I am so incredibly excited for you. How I wish I wasn't married already so you could do my invites. Divorce? Hmmm....
yes! it looks wonderful! I've seen some very bad backgrounds in the interworld, but this is done beautifully!
It's totally beautiful.
I'm going to offer unsolicited advice as well (yay you, right? ;)
1) If your staying on blogger, make sure you back up your blog every week. Blogger has this amazing robot that goes around the web and looks for spam blogs. It misidentifies them all the time, yanks them off the internet, and locks you out of the back end (so all those draft posts? G-o-n-e. All your past posts and comments? G-o-n-e) It happened to me... I was lucky enough to get my blog back, but a good portion of the time the blog is never unlocked. HORRIBLEHORRIBLEHORRIBLE. Hopefully you're backing up already, and are wiser than I was.
2) I was happy enough with the back end of blogger. When my site re-launched we switched to word press and sweet-jesus-god. If I told you it was 10 times more functional, and I could do 10 times more, I'd be underselling it. So, I'd throw that out as something to consider if you're already doing a facelift. Besides, word press has no SPAM ROBOT. Not that I'm bitter or anything.
It's going to be wonderful.
I'm glad you guys like it!
Meg - I would be HORRIFIED if I lost everything. And I don't know how to back it up. Ack!
I'm going to talk to my web confidant and see what he thinks regarding your advice. You definitely have me thinking. I suppose I'm worried about losing some people in the transition - did you have any issues with that?
Thanks so much for the advice!
Love the new header, super cute!
love the new header!
Speaking of not knowing how to size pictures to fit margins can you tell me how to do it? Or is there somewhere I can go to figure out how to do it? I'm really bad at the technical side of blogging....
Gretchen - I host through flickr. When I click on all sizes it gives me the code to paste. The closest size to my blog margin is 500px wide and I proportionately size it down to 400px wide to fit the margins. I'm really bad at the technical side of it too, really.
