Aw, Hail!

Sunday was gorgeous - the sun was shining and our squash had just started blooming. We harvested a few more radishes and felt proud of our little veggie garden. Then around 3PM, sun still in the sky, our local weather men told us to put on helmets and hide in our basements. The sky quickly turned angry and dark.

Jeremy and I ran out to our backyard and covered our gardens with some tarp. And then, from our bedroom window we watched they sky pour buckets of ice over our lawn.

The veggie garden was demolished - the tarp barely held up a fight. Everything was smooshed. Flat and sad. Here's to starting over.

Nooooo! So sorry! Hope it gets up and running again soon.

Same here. :( Our zucchini and squash are ok. A few tomato plants might recover. The rest is a redo.

boo!

So bummed! Thankfully, we had no hail in Tulsa. *note to self - find large buckets to place over plants in case of inclement Oklahoma weather*

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that. A toast to starting over though! (Diet Dr. Pepper for me)

I just laughed out loud. Not because your garden is demolished, that is terrible. But because of what you said about the weather man. I'm pretty sure I hopped out of bed when my husband found out about the storm and put on some clean clothes. Ya know, just in case our house got demolished and I would be on the news. I was NOT going to do an interview in pajamas and it turns out several people on twitter did the same. Sorry about your garden, especially since it was going so well. Ya never know, they all might bounce back. Nature can be pretty impressive that way.

I have to ask, serious with the helmets? Sorry bout your veggie patch. :(

Kathryn - Yes! I've never heard the weathermen tell us to put on helmets until this year but they have been! I'm usually too interested in what's going on outside (or on the TV) to duck and cover, though.

Oh what a bummer!

Oh my gosh, I've never seen so much hail! Sorry about your garden--hope you get things growing again quickly!
