Veggie Gardening: NATURE Y'ALL!

Remember the hail storm that demolished our veggie garden? Well, apparently our vegetable plants are little badasses that have come back with a vengeance. Look! We're even getting a little squash - isn't it adorable?

We spent a little time cleaning everything up. Trimming off dying stems that sustained too much damage and getting leaves out of our beds. We've been watering and tending and encouraging our little veggies to come back. It's working! Nature y'all!

Do you think it's too late to start gardening? I live in an apartment, but I was amazed at how much sun we get on the balcony, so I was thinking of making a little wooden plot this weekend.

Kim - I don't think it would be too late at all. Grab a couple of starter plants from your local farmer's market (or any gardening store) instead of growing from seed. That way you already have a head start.

My main advice for container planting would be to not overcrowd the space. I tried containers last year and failed because I planted too much too close together.

Looking good! I can't wait for Jeremy to start grilling those veggies for us :)

Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful. The resilience of nature is astounding and exciting! I came home the other day to my little squash plant looking less then happy and with a little tlc it now looks like it likes me again!
(I am counting the days til goat cheese stuffed squash blossoms and grilled squash!!)

Impressive. My veggies... they are not growing, just sort of existing, although I did notice a couple of flowers on one of my cucumber vines. I might have the tiniest cucumbers EVER.

Where did you get those wooden planting grids. Love em! Please tell me you didn't make them. And if you did - you should sell them.

T.R. - We did make them but they were super simple to create. Just a little bit of cut wood and some screws and nails.
