Anatomy of an Outfit: Grey on Grey

GreyonGrey

GreyonGreyEarring

I've been wearing a lot of grey lately. Grey layered on grey layered on more grey. I'll maybe add a subtle pop of brown or mustard and a crazy accessory - like one big earring. I was shopping with fellow blogger Kelly of Design Crush when she spotted this earring - the owner of the store (Shop Good) said something like "Those aren't selling. I think girls are scared to rock one earring around these parts." I took that as a challenge and accepted. But apparently my hair is already so crazy that most people don't even notice the earring. I think next I'll join the feather extension trend.

What I'm wearing right now:

black slouchy suede boots
black argyle knee socks
black tights
black mini dress
black cableknit wrap
tiny gold ring

It's my "WHAT. I'm an Art Director." outift.

But this grey you speak of... it sounds exciting.

I always loved the one earring thing. Maybe I should rock some now with my short hair. Unfortunately I can't quite do the feather trend with my short hair but I do think it looks awesome.

OH MY GOD. my word verification is 'undies'. I am not even joking.

One earring reminds me of Janet Jackson and the era when she wore the 1 that was a key. I always thought it was sexy and powerful.

Every time I go shopping and mosey to the checkout line I'm humored by the fact that everything I purchase is black, white or some shade of grey. It just happens. Very utilitarian.

And I'm pretty sure we have the same socks. I have 3 pair in varying shades of grey (surprise!) and wear them just so with my knee-high boots.

I happen to love your hair. Mine is straight black. I've never quite been able to achieve the look you have going on. :) It's a good thing it takes all kinds to make a world! Along with my hair, I tend to the black color scheme as well...

BriannEm - Thank you! My hair was actually straight and black prior to blonde and curly! You can kind of tell in my photobooth pics at the top of my sidebar.

Your hair is getting SO long!

Amanda - I know! And it's like 25% longer when I straighten it (which is rare). I think I might just let it keep going though...

I was about to compliment your hair as well. My hair is curly too, but not thick enough to be "wild", and I so wish it was! Love it!

You are seriously the queen of layers. SHOW ME THE WAY.

I just died. Quite literally. Gorgeous!

jrose - Thank you! It's funny because in the winter it's so dry that it's not quite as huge or unruly - this head of hair like humidity!

Ashley - The biggest secret to layering is scarves!

Megan-Joy - OH NO! Should I call 911!? ;) Thank you. You're sweet.

When I spent a summer in Italy it was common for women to wear only one long dangly earring and apparently which ear they wore it on told men if they were single or taken ;)

oh, girl! :) my fabulous hair girl just told me about the feather hair extensions...you already know i'm getting them asap! :)
you look as hot as ever! i am in love w/ the socks!

Gray gray gray... I can't get enough of it! I pretty much live in dark gray and black. My boyfriend even teases me for loving everything that comes in gray. :)
