And Kathleen Business Cards

When I was hired on as an art director at my previous advertising job I wouldn't put any personal effects on my desk until I had business cards printed up with my name on them. To me it was a sign that I wasn't temporary - that I would be around long enough to hand out at least 250 business cards.
I've been freelancing for 7 months now and am finally starting to feel like the situation isn't temporary. So I finally designed and printed up some business cards. I'm in this for the long haul - or at least long enough to hand out 500 business cards. That and writing my contact information on napkins was becoming embarrassing.
These are printed using two-color lithography on chip board (the stuff that usually backs notepads) and are 2" square. Now I'm itching to print some wedding invitations on this material. Any takers?
Special thanks to Julie at Heritage Press for never making fun of me when I ask her to do stuff like print on stock that usually ends up in the trash.

I'm looking for a creative idea and you might be the one to pull it off. As you know I do lots of "stuff" around town. ProjectOKC, Frontline, photography. I'd like a card on material like that that communicates simply that "I Do Stuff..."
Let's talk shop sometime soon, I'm serious!
Rex - I'm down!
Dangit, now you have me thinking about printing game components on chipboard. Hmm...
I love love love this idea... You've done it again. GENIUS!
These are so fabulous!
My business cards are being designed right now... can't WAIT to see them & get handing them out!! :D
LOVE your work!
absolutely love the business cards. with those, you'll be so professional (and adorable!) :)
My last cards were printed on chipboard, my printer thought that I was crazy.
These are beautiful. I am in love with cardstock and single color ink.
Really nice!
So on-brand and perfect! Good, good work.
I adore these cards! I wish I wasn't already married. WAH!!!
It's quite impressive how perfectly you seem to have branded yourself. I adore the colors and the card idea! Bravo!
those look awesome!
and just starting to plan our wedding after 9 years together, 7.5of them engaged
would LOVE to be your guinea pig as I already know I(we)would absolutely adore anything you put your hand on, but we're on a (very) tight budget.....
(as in we're considering catering our own reception to be able to make the numbers work)
Ahhhh I love them!!! : )
pushing it to the edge is what it's all about with Kathleen's design, once she had us emboss cork and it was FABULOUS! i'm thankful she thinks of us to help execute her vision!
Me too.
They look great!
On a side note: why on earth do we as designers become so hesitant about creating our own business cards? Ive found myself doing the same thing as well as many other designers I know. Too many of us have done the napkin thing when we have good relationships with our printers and very much have the skills to design a business card. So silly.
i love them!!! looooooooove. i can't wait 'til i need you to design some business cards for me! just not sure what for yet...
whats on the back?
These are gorgeous! Have fun handing them out.
I love this and would love to talk to you about wedding invitations. I am planning a lakeside wedding in September and think the chipboard would be perfect!
I love that you used chipboard that's awesome. ox
It seems to be a mini-trend to print on chipboard now. So no it's not crazy, it's cool! Why waste something that's perfectly good? I like the brown paper bag look myself.
Phoebe - It's true! I'm seeing chipboard everywhere now (kind of like when you learn a new word and then hear it nonstop afterwards).
I'm a huge fan of kraft - I use it in almost every invitation I design for envelopes.
I have an entire drawer of chipboard in all different shapes and sizes. When I worked at the agency, I would take it from packaging and the backs of notebooks. Like a crazy hoarder. I used it for business cards before I had some made and now for tags and cards.
