Local Flour + Rad Packaging
For the longest time the flour I had been buying came in a large gallon-sized zip-lock bag. So, when the packaging had been updated (I'm assuming it's the same producer) I was really excited about it. I love the way it's designed and printed - bold primary colors on a low thread-count cotton, and slightly off-registered in places. It's either really unassuming and down-to-earth or a genius designed it to look super honest and down-to-earth.
Update: I get all of my groceries (bulk, veggies, etc.) from Native Roots Market in Norman, Oklahoma. They support the local food system and get lots of goodies from local farmers. I also go to the OSU-OKC farmers market (all local) on Saturdays at 10th and Portland and on Wednesdays at the OSU-OKC Chesapeake farmers market (summer only) - these farmers markets have vendors that carry local flour, jams, veggies, mushrooms, etc.

awhile back, i searched online for cool flour sacks to cover my bedroom ceiling with. i ended up going w/ potato sacks instead. but these flour sacks rock.
where do you buy this at? I love it but I've never seen it before!
I'm Oklahoman and I'd love to know where you buy all your local products! Do you get things like flour at the Farmer's Market or elsewhere?

L-O-V-E… It's such a perfect blend of whimsy and Honest John.
And I so cannot wait for the farmer's stands around here to finally open for the season. Though the kiddo and I scored some strawberries, blueberry and strawberry whipped honey this past weekend. I'm dying to try it on some toast. Soon.
Patrick - The farmers markets and shopping at grocery stores that support the local food chain has sufficed for now but I'm definitely interested in utilizing the food co-op too.
I've been to the Farmers Market on Western/south of I-40 and I was pretty disappointed. Is the OSU-OKC market better? I've been meaning to go but I don't want to get my hopes up. I can't wait for the Chesapeak market to open for Summer since it's near my home. It's smaller but at least it's close!
Have you been to Fast Forward on Western? I've been there a couple of times. How does it compare to Native Roots?

Deb - The farmers market on Western imports all of their produce - I'm not really sure why they even call themselves a farmers market, really.
The one at OSU/OKC and Chesapeake is a million times better.
I used to go to Forward Foods in Norman all the time! They have such a great cheese selection. I know they import lots of great specialty items and unique hard to find groceries. I think Native Roots is a little different in that it's more focused on spices and carrying local/organic groceries. But they're both great places!
