This week has been a little bit of a bummer. I'm having a hard time shaking the summer blues. So I thought I'd try a little pick-me-up by painting my nails. When I went to photograph the bottle of pretty aqua polish for this post I noted the name for the first time - Mermaid's Tears. How appropriate. P.S. I love pairing this color with a sparkly gold polish on my ring finger.

And speaking of mermaids. My sister just posted about my parents new lake house and in it included an old photo of me in my home made little mermaid costume circa 1989. I kind of lived in that pink lamé bra and am surprised I didn't get sent home the day I wore it to school for Halloween exactly as pictured above. 29-year-old inappropriate me is totally high-fiving the inappropriate 7-year-old me. And I'm not surprised to find that we still rock the same inappropriate sense of style - pink bra and all.

I Almost bought this color the other day.... I LOVE the name!! unfortunately the store was all out, and only had the tester...

Such a pretty color!!

My sweet friend, Keri, picked this color out for me a couple weeks ago. I'm obsessed - it's the perfect color for summer. (Thanks, Keri!)

I bought that color last week!! and its always good to high five your past self for approval on style, i do.

I love the gold polish on your ring fingers. I would not have thought of that.

That mermaid photo is the sweetest thing.

I love that green. And that gold. And that ring! Your hand obviously knows what's up.

a. Well we should have gone for Sake and suchi last night!!!!

b. I am totally smiling like an idiot about a totally bad ass 7 year old going to school in that totally bad ass mermaid suit!

thanks for that :)

That is my favorite OPI nail color. A word of warning: I wore this nail polish shade every day for four months (just recently switched to Chanel Jade). If you are like me, and occasionally forget to put a basecoat on first, this OPI shade will turn your nails yellow! Yeep!

Love love love the mermaid costume! I have wanted to be a mermaid since I was little but could never convince my mom to let me be a mermaid for Halloween. Maybe I'll finally get my wish this year...I just have to make sure my stomach is mermaid costume worthy! haha!

That nail polish is awesome! And I love the sparkly gold polish on your ring finger too!

this week has been kind of a bummer. even mermaids are crying about it. ;)

There's lots of really pretty shades in the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean collection (which Mermaid's Tears comes from!). I love Sparrow Me the Drama (a pink) and Planks A Lot (a purple)!

My grandmother made me a costume that looked very much like that!

I've been looking for just this color!

I LOVE this color! It looks so good with one gold finger too, and goes with your house! I have it on my toes right now and it totally matches my new climbing rope...new fave maybe?! Totally a coincidence: http://instagr.am/p/lQ6rz

i think one of the coolest jobs would be to come up with the names for these colours - mermaid's tears?? how awesome is that?!

btw - ".....29-year-old inappropriate me is totally high-fiving the inappropriate 7-year-old me." - totally made me laugh out loud! hope you shake your summer blues!

p.s i also, occasionally, do one ring finger in sparkly gold - it's unexpected and fun.

Oh wow, I can't tell you how many summers I spent channeling Ariel :)
