The Lake

I've never been much of a lake girl. I mean... even though I was raised with a lake in my backyard I never really took to playing around in questionable water. But recently I've been taking anything I can get when it comes to adventure. So while we were in Michigan we took full advantage of the lake. Lake Superior that is.

We would run from a 250F sauna into the freezing waters.

And after many failed wake boarding attempts put on some water skis.

It was a blast but I didn't know how to stop! Apparently you're supposed to just let go.

Do you all like playing in the lake? I think I'm hooked.

It's a new-found love for me, too. We live between two large lakes here in Washington, and just this summer, I've gotten over the willies to get in among the fishies. My kids are getting there, too.

I WISH we had a boat - or friends with a boat - to give tubing or skiing a try. I've just started rowing (crew), and that's incredible. I am loving time on the lake.

As a Michigan native, I can say that I LOVE playing in lakes. (But only Great Lakes--inland lakes can be a little dodgy.) I honestly couldn't love Lake Michigan any more if it were a person.

I'm so glad you had fun in MI and that you're putting the word out there what a beautiful place it is. We appreciate it! =)

I feel safest playing in lakes that are mostly clear and clean...that way no lake creatures can sneak up on me. :)

I will Never go in FL Lakes.. they are full of alligators and snakes and if that isn't bad enough they have amoebas that will eat your brains.... seriously.

However... I'm all about the water sports. Waterskiing kayaking and tubing FTW. -just not in the lakes.

Jeremy's face is cracking me up in SportyOutTakes!

You know Derek Doublin, yes? He was kind of a mentor to me in high school, and told me this really great thing once, that I needed to play in the creek. I think he was trying to say I needed to not be afraid of getting messy and failing at projects before they succeeded, but in general playing in the lake/creek is a good idea as well. I mean mud pies rock, right?
