The first snapshot from my new camera.
A few months ago I talked about wanting to step it up in the photography department. Capturing life with stills has always been an interest of mine and now video is starting to enter the scene. After almost 3 years of shooting on my little G10 and much deliberation and advice from trusted photographers I have invested in a Canon T3i.
So, now I'll be spending my weekend (and the rest of my life) shooting photos of my favorite cat.
I bought the same camera a few weeks ago and have been doing the same damned thing. 10298292 cat photos.
ReplyDeleteI bought a new camera last fall and the first few (hundred) photos were of my cat and pup. You just can't help yourself!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new purchase - I have a Canon and really love it.
wow, can't wait to see it put into action more. :)
ReplyDeleteCanon is the way to go :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the new cam!
I shoot with a Canon also! Enjoy! : )
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the purchase! Happy shooting!*
ReplyDelete*Funny side note, I was working on an assignment with a 72 year old traveling storyteller who visits classrooms of pre-k students. I make a point to say "shooting" and not filming when I'm working with video... but in the environment with 25 toddlers running around I was on my knees trying to get the other camera operator's attention to "shoot that kid dancing," and I was, uh, reprimanded for my choice of wording. It was luckily the end of the day... Oh syntax.
Lesson learned. Being a pretentious imaging nerd does not trump being PC around little kids. Also teachers still scare me.
That's our next camera! Until then, we're stuck with my six year old canon digital rebel.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what lenses you have so far, but this one rocks:

It's awesome for the price, gives gorgeous depth of field and pretty good bokeh. We took 8 million pics of our dogs when we got it :-) Have fun!
I just got the T2i - i was debating between the 2! I just got it this week and plan to spend my entire vacation taking photos. Enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteEm_Perk - Thank you for the lens recommendation! I have a 18 - 135mm lens but am definitely finding a need for something like a 50mm with a faster aperture and close focusing distance.
ReplyDeleteI hate how photogenic cats are. Since I bought my camera, I think at least 50% of the photos I've taken have been of my cats. Have fun with yours this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll share some photography tips with us along the way. I bought a Canon Rebel awhile back and still have yet to TRULY figure it out. There's a goal to add to the list!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking this morning that I got my fancy-pants camera this time last year, and was thinking about what I've photoed most for the past year. Lily. And food. I think it's indicative of what's most important to us.
ReplyDeleteYou will love love love it. I have the T2i and took several classes at the art center and am in love. It was part of my 40x40 goals.
