Ever since our big tree was cut down the front of our house our curb appeal has been lacking. And after 3.5 years of living here I've determined that I'm probably never going to find motivation to landscape. It's just too complicated - there are so many variables like sun, water, perennial vs. annual, etc.
So I finally hired my friend Hallie's little brother, who owns Clean Cut Curbs, to overhaul the front of our house. I told him I wanted something mid-century modern but still complimentary to the old historical tudor style of our home. I told him I wanted plants that didn't need to be watered and could deal with ice in the winter and 100+ heat in the summer.
Here's what he came up with:

Amazing, right? On top of all of that we're also getting a new tree that will sit in the middle of our front yard (rather than right next to the house like the old one). I think this overhaul will rekindle my love for our home.
Yea!! I'm so excited you're finally landscaping. Now if I could just pay someone to decorate inside my home...
ReplyDeleteForget all of that. Pink flamingos and the cutout that looks like a woman bending over wearing bloomers is all you need.
ReplyDeleteAshley - I think it's when I realized "Wait. I can just pay someone to do this for me." that a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. I'd highly recommend it - it's worth every penny.
ReplyDeleteFrancine - Oh, I'm sure we could find a way to incorporate a pink flamingo or two in here. ;)
I love the simplicity of it, and the lines of the beds. It is going to look fantastic with your house!
ReplyDeleteoooh... new landscaping!!! exciting!
ReplyDeletei'm in the same boat, by the way. i looove a gorgeous yard, but aside from my little porch garden, don't have the time (or expertise) to give our yard what it deserves. a good landscaper makes all the difference!
I'm all about paying for landscaping or bribing my sister to do it for me. It's too much work. I LOVE the design he came up with. Can't wait to see pictures of the final product!
ReplyDeletenot to embarrass myself as a total design newbie but what program does your landscaper use to do these layouts?
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing - my husband always reminds me that we can't find the motivation to *everything* ourselves. That's when we let other's creativity and motivation do it. :)
ReplyDeleteLeonard & Agnes - Good ol' fashioned pen, paper & markers - these are iPhone photographs. I always tell new designers to not underestimate the value of designing outside of the computer.
ReplyDeleteI really like that a lot! its defiantly got a modern twist.
ReplyDeleteVery exciting!!! It's going to look fabulous. Your house is lovely
