Here is a sneak peek at our cozy little new room. We decided to use the wrought-iron bed from the guest bedroom as our bed and that rad throw was a Christmas gift from my mom and dad. (My mom found it at Blue Seven - I was so proud of her for buying all of my wonderful gifts locally this year.) The cats most definitely approve. I'll share more of this space once it's more complete.
Jeremy pointed out, after reading my switcheroo post, that our former master bedroom isn't really all-caps HUGE huge. It's probably 12' x 20' and our new room is about 12' x 10'. When comparing it to a new build master suite, no - it's not huge. But when you look at it next to someone living in a studio the size of our bedroom - yeah, it's huge. HUGE, even. Our entire house is about 1,500 sq. ft. - it has 3 bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, a dining room and a living room. This feels plenty big to me but every year Dwell comes out with a "small homes" issue and what qualifies as small is 1,500 sq. ft. or smaller. But I digress...
I love that blanket, very cute! can't wait to see the finished rooms.
ReplyDeletei cannot wait to see the changes! i love seeing what you & Jeremy do with spaces.
ReplyDeleted'awwww sleeping kitties.
ReplyDeleteVery cool. Is that the chalk board wall behind your bed? Are you going to leave that or keep using it? Will chalk dust get on your bed? Am I weird for thinking about things like that?
Francine - Great questions. That is THE chalkboard wall behind the bed. I used to photograph everything on that board - from my Anatomy of an Outfit photos to shoots for my company Braid Creative.
ReplyDeleteSO, I'm painting a new chalkboard wall in my guest bedroom and converting that into more of a studio space for shoots.
I most likely won't be using the chalkboard wall in the bedroom now. I do love the color and texture of the old chalk board & dust on there though - so I'm not planning on painting over it either.
Oooh, you could totally draw sexy time pictures on the chalkboard wall as inspiration before slipping under the covers.
ReplyDeleteAhh, I too was just going to ask about the wall. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely!
ReplyDeleteAnd I grew up in a 1,200 sf home with 4 people and it was plenty big so I get itchy with people's definition of "small" homes.
Love the new blanket and I'm so proud of your mom too! That's awesome that she bought locally!
ReplyDeleteLooks nice. My bungalow is 990 sq. ft and I have 3 bd, 2 bath - my rooms are TINY but I make do.
ReplyDeleteyour room looks super cozy already... can't wait to see the transformation :)
ReplyDeleteLoving it already!!! Switching things up is always a great way to fall in love with a house all over again. My dad is a master at that craft! : )
ReplyDeletePs- 12'x20 is HUGE compared to my tiny manhattan apt- my living room is smaller ;) love the re-arrange- looking forward to seeing the final images.
ReplyDeleteYou know what's a little bit strange but also sweet? Is that both that bed and that lamp used to be my bed and bedside lamp. Like in my early twenties Heritage Hills 1930's walkup apartment phase. We Thomas kids recycle all our stuff among each other!
ReplyDeleteLove, love this. So much! My favorite is the last one of the two bebes snuggled up.
