Jeremy and I spend every single weekend with our families. Settling in to a game of Settlers of Catan (is anyone else as obsessed with this board game as I am) and eating some home made chocolate chip cookies around my mom and dad's breakfast table is about as good as it gets. Especially after a crazy-busy week like the one I've had.
How do you like to unwind on the weekend? Any dorky board games involved?
ahhh sooo obsessed with Catan! I love that you spend so much time with your family. I thought it was weird that Sheldon spent every weekend with his family when we first got together and now I miss them when we go a week without spending time with them.
ReplyDeleteSaturday morning yoga + Tex-Mex breakfast at Habanero Cafe = ideal weekend kickoff.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the Settles of Catan. Have you played Forbidden Island?! You will LOVE it.
Your guys' way to unwind sounds amazing! I usually get all cozy in bed and get lost in a book :)
ReplyDeleteThis is my kind of low key weekend. We LOVE playing games! Yahtzee and Scrabble are two favorites. Enjoy your weekend! Now you have me thinking of cookies... :)
ReplyDeleteBeachwalking or hiking, and a cat nap on the couch. There's just something about weekend naps...
ReplyDeleteAnd if I spent every weekend with my family I'd jump off a bridge. Kudos for having a cool family, I guess!
obsessed with catan! my friend just introduced me to ticket to ride sort of similar but not... :) enjoy your weekend
ReplyDeleteOooh... a weekend with wine and Settlers, good friends and great food.... now THAT'S a weekend.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow's my birthday and I'm spending it going to my favorite museum and having a game night with my family. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat game! I'll be watching the Super Bowl!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to hear others come out of the closet about board game love. My husband and I (and his family when we're home) play a lot of games. If you like Catan, you might try Dominion. It's our new favorite and is much quicker than Catan, leading to several games in a row.
ReplyDeleteI have never even heard of this game! Is it fun? What is it about?
ReplyDeleteXOXO, Lindsey
I love Catan!
ReplyDeleteand referring to your previous post {about your home office}: I really really liked your office before, but dear lord your new one looks AMAZING!

ReplyDeleteI hope you're having a fun weekend! I've never played Settlers but I have several friends who absolutely love it! My weekend is going to be consumed by writing multiple papers for one particular grad class.
ReplyDeleteI have to ask, is your brother going to be on an episode of New York Ink? I just caught a glimpse of their latest ad and saw a man hammering a nail into his nose. I've been a reader of your blog for a little over a year now, so I immediately thought, is that Donny Vomit?!
I'm so glad there are other Catan lovers out there! And I'm going to check out your other game recommendations too.
ReplyDeleteMel - I craving some Habanero. Jeremy and I need to come visit you guys soon.
Lindsey - It's hard to describe. It's kind of like a mix between Risk and Monopoly.
Lauren - Haha. Yes. That's Donny. The burlesque troup he performs with all got matching tattoos. He's also been filming for the reality show Oddities lately.
I've only played Settlers two or three times, but I like that game! My unwinding over the weekend typically involves hiking and baking and exploring someplace new. So far, so good -- and there's still another day left.
ReplyDeleteI live far away from my family (They're in Chicago and I'm in Austin) so I usually spend my weekend with my dog. It's quite delightful. He enjoys CBS Sunday Morning as much as I do.
ReplyDeletei absolutely LOVE that game but my husband refuses to play with me after two seperate episodes of my extreme competitiveness. it's unfortunate that i'm such an asshole when i play.
ReplyDeleteMy friends and I once went on a ski trip where we ended up spending more hours playing Catan than skiing.
ReplyDeleteGood Game!!! we play that as well!
ReplyDeleteDorky Games are almost always involved but not necessarily board games. We also include Retro Video games:)
Every weekend somehow ends up involving "board" games with our pals. Catch Phrase, Chicken Foot, Apples to Apples... and a fun new drawing/word game that gets us all laughing until our sides hurt!
ReplyDeleteI'm unintentionally blitzing you with comments. Rummikub is our addiction. It quickly disintegrates into my mother in law saying, "You suck! And your tiles suck!"
ReplyDeleteRebekah - HAHA. That's awesome. I like it! Keep 'em coming. :)
ReplyDeleteUm, I HAVEN'T heard of this game, and it looks AMAZING!
