Thirty.

TeenageKathleen
Me at 15 circa 1997.

I've been looking forward to 30 for a long time - 15 year old me is thrilled that I'm finally here. This weekend I celebrated the last hour of my 20s at a fancy bar in Manhattan over a fancy whiskey cocktail with Jeremy and my brother. We chatted about five year plans, living as creatives, stoic philosophy and I shared my secret wish - which is to speak more smoothly from my diaphragm.

I woke up the next morning feeling a little different from the day before. The most notable difference was a new sense of direction - as in, I literally knew east from west a little better than before. I felt a little more confident in my boots - with purpose in each step.

So here's to 30.

Happiest birthday! At 35 I can tell you it just gets better and better.

Happy birthday! What a lovely way to close out your 20s. I'm approaching my 29th year, so I'm right behind you. ;)

As I like to say, 30 is the new 21. :)
Happy birthday!

So far, I've loved the 30s. Happy birthday, Kathleen!!!

Happy 30th! you were completely adorable at 15, btw. I had the same haircut that year, when I was 19. I attribute the popularity of short hair cuts in that era to chloe sevigny's character in Kids.

CHEERS, Miss Kathleen! Oh to go from saying, "I'm tw..." to "I'm th..." 30 is happy to have you, lovely lady. :)

Happy Birthday!

I recently hit 28. I'm so ready to be done with my awkward 20s.

Happy birthday, Kathleen!

Wait... was 1997 really 15 years ago?!

A very happy birthday to you Kathleen. My 30th is in August and I am looking forward to waving goodbye to my twenties.

happy happy birthday!

Happy birthday to my favourite 30 year old! xo

My birthday was yesterday, we're kinda birthday-twins. And I also turned 30. And I also feel like you. Cheers, fist-bumps, blessings.

HAPPY birthday!

30's are the best... I highly recommend them.

Happy Birthday Kathleen. Cheers!

Happy Happy Birthday! I was looking forward to turning 30 too (which I did in August). Here's to our 30s!

I, too, have felt more confident since turning 30. Happy Birthday Kathleen! I believe it does get better and better.

I celebrated my 30th in New York too! Best place for it! Happy 30th enjoy whatever is ahead!

Good times, I am fast approaching the next decade - yikes, hardly seems real. Your blog is so refreshing! Happy Birthday :-)

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday! This really makes me rethink my dredding 30

Welcome. I'm definitely enjoying my 30s. They're a lot like my 20s. Just less being up at 3am doing vodka shots.

I like your optimism about this. I feel the same way - I feel like there's a directional component of 30 that doesn't exist in this chaos I'm calling 20s right now... however, I do intend to fully enjoy them :)

Thank you for breaking in 30 for me. I turn it in July and I am oh so very scared to leave my 20's behind. I don't feel ready to be that much of an adult yet.

I may be a bit late (though I did get my chance to tell you in person), but HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Thirty is a kick ass age. You're going to love this new chapter. Trust me.

We are one day apart - I turned 30 on May 9th!

Happy, happy birthday to you, Kathleen!

I've been offline for a bit, so this is quite belated but - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I'm just sure you'll rock the pants right off of thirty!
