We have a fairly large backyard that we have a lot of plans for (including a 2-car garage built to match the house, replacing the tar paper sewer line so it's located on our side of the fence, landscaping, a fire pit and veggie garden).
Here is a quick comp of our backyard as it is now.
This is not to scale whatsoever.
And here's a rough sketch of what I imagine it looking like.
The first thing we would have to do is install a new sewer line. For now everything is in working order but we're going to have to replace it eventually seeing as how our current line is made out of tar paper and our plumber gave us specific instructions to not flush any toilet paper down it.
According to these current plans I'm not sure where a 2-car garage fits in. This is something we'll do way in the future and I would like to proceed with landscaping but may need to reconsider the fire pit placement as that would be the most permanent installation.
For now my thoughts keep going to the veggie garden.
How convenient would it be to just go in the backyard and grab the veggies you need when you need them? My grandpa had a huge vegetable garden so I'd like to think it's in the genes and I'll be incredibly successful in my pursuit of home-grown veggies.
Clearly, we have a lot of planning and thinking to do but I'm ready to get the wheels in motion.
Any ideas?
I'd have to say I'm still really unclear on how this whole no toilet paper thing works for you.
ReplyDeleteI actually do use toilet paper. But as little as possible but enough to get the job done. Before guests use our bathroom we always yell "two squares!"
ReplyDeletedid you look into the cost of a garage? I have no idea how much they are but I remember once on HGTV they said it would cost around 30k to build one which is INSANE!!! I'd rather have a new car.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking it would cost around $20k - which I know sounds crazy but it would be much more of an investment than a new car. And then once it's all paid off I could buy a new car because I'd have a nice garage to park it in!
ReplyDeleteI can totally use one square.
ReplyDeleteJust sayin'...
That's why I have you over so often - because I know you won't clog up my toilet.
