P.S. If a movie was made about my life I would have Zooey Deschanel play me.
My favorite piece of furniture is my mid century credenza. It's the perfect record cabinet and may someday double as a bar.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite piece of furniture is my bar/cabinet from Pier 1. It was the one piece of furniture that I did not have to put together myself and it is extremely functional. I just love the clean simple lines and awesome super deep drawers!
ReplyDeleteCheck it out.
My chairs are going to kill me for saying this...
ReplyDeleteMy favorite piece of furniture is my little thrift-store nightstand. It was my first pointy-legs piece (an incredibly important milestone), and started my debilitating mid-century obsession.
Plus I hear small storage side tables are the new chair.
See it here.
I love my victorian couch. It's this really beautiful chartreuse green velvet with a mohogany wooden frame. It's really curvy, like a women laying on her side. It reminds of something Janis Joplin might lounge on for a photo shoot and that's never a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite piece of furniture is my baby's crib. I used it for my four-year old when he was little too. It is from the 30's is made out of a honey-colored wood, and has neat ribbed-slash-curved detailing on the posts that make it look a little art-deco-ish. It also has these 30's children's book illustration style rabbit characters (one on the headboard and one on the footboard) that are all laqueredy-crackledy, but not in a Hobby Lobby way, like in an authentic-they'll-probably-kill-my-kids-from-lead-poisoning sort of way. I got it for $40 at a garage sale (when I was only first trying to get pregnant).
ReplyDeleteIt was such a steal that I had to get it, but me and my mom didn't want to jinx me getting pregnant, so we dissassembled it, wrapped the pieces in bedsheets and snuck it into her house where we hid the parts in the backs of three different closets, and didn't tell anyone about it until it was actually a non-crazy-person-appropriate time to shop for a crib.
It's going to Kathleen some day, so that's why I should win.
– Tara
I recently found your blog and love reading about all your home renovations!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite piece of furniture is our long Markor bookcase from IKEA. My husband and I bought it for each other for our anniversary last year as our first piece of furniture to buy ever!
I love your blog, I love all the home reno and decorating stuff, and everthing else too. It rawks.
ReplyDeleteI love reading about someone's life that is so totally different than mine (married, kids, living on a farm in Saskatchewan), but who's style of decorating I absolutely love.
Anyway - favorite piece of furniture - toss up between a roll top desk my husband bought me when we were first married (19 yrs ago), and a Christmas gift I just got from him, an antique vanity (dressing table). Love them both.
@Faye - Thanks for the comment. You should have a blog - I'm dying to read about your farm and family in Saskatchewan!
ReplyDelete@jr&chels - That Markor series is definitely a departure from the typical designs IKEA puts out. I like the desk in that series. Thanks for the comment!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! So many people say that but Zooey Deschanel is so very totally utterly and completely YOU!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm about half way through reading through your entire blog from start to present and am love love LOVING it!
You guys (and your house) rock!
Aesophia,
ReplyDeleteThank you! I've since dyed my hair blonde and am now picking Chloe Sevigny. You'll come up on that post soon. :)
Thank you so much for the sweet compliments and I'm so glad you found my blog.
