Simplify Sundays

For the past month or two Jeremy and I have simplified our breakfast.

coffee with half-and-half, banana

We never really did it up with sausage, eggs and biscuits or pancakes but we've simplified by switching to fruit only breakfasts. If I didn't eat fruit for breakfast I wouldn't eat it at all - so this is a good way to get my daily intake.

I should note, though, that this morning my banana was soggy and I busted out the emergency box of Strawberry Fields by Kashi. Yum.

  1. I have oatmeal w/ almonds and a banana for my weekday breakfasts and on the weekend I've been making fruit smoothies for me and hubby. Of course always with coffee, ha.

  2. While I am not good at doing this myself, breakfast is the most important meal to get in a good dose of protein. Eggs are the BEST way to do so.

Unfortunately, I can't get myself up early enough to cook some.

  3. Strawberry fields is one of my favorite cereals ever, even though I never eat it for breakfast. It's usually my before bed snack.

  4. Jessica - I've been meaning to make smoothies on the weekends. They're the best for hangovers. ;)

Hallie - I typically follow up my breakfast with some Almonds an hour or two later. This definitely gets me the protein pick-up I need.

Aura - I had it for dinner last night! Haha! So good. I also love the Kashi Honey Sunshine - it's like a healthy Captain Crunch.

  5. I'm totally an egg girl. But then some people are more hungry in the mornings than others...I think I'm a hungry person and you're probably not (I could not survive on a banana and nothing else until lunch). But a couple of spoonfuls of yogurt with honey also does me pretty well...

  7. Laura - I totally get what you're saying and I can confirm that I am definitely a hungry morning person. When I first started trying out fruit for breakfast I was STARVING by 9am. I would either have a snack (more fruit or almonds) by 10am and then lunch around 11:30. I'm not sure if this is the best approach but over time it's started working for me. Yogurt and honey sounds delish - I need to add that to my list of snacks.
