HOW! Craft + Activism = Craftivism

It has been my goal for a little bit now to interject handmade elements into my designs at work. Whether it's using an xacto knife instead of photoshop or building my own sets.

So yesterday, when I got to see the handmade rockstar, Kate Bingaman-Burt of ObsessiveConsumption.com, give a presentation on Craftivisim at the HOW Design Conference I nearly peed myself.

She was a really fun and passionate speaker. Another example of how consitency and focus make a fantastic impact.

She addressed issues of handmade being a trend, how not to kill it, and to use it when appropriate.

  1. I love her blog. I wish I could just draw pictures all the time of things I buy all the time, but maybe only stuff I get on clearance, so it reads like a Steinmart receipt: Aztec Blazer, originally $60.00, I paid $12.99!
