Notes For The Universe

KathleenFlyingB

KathleenFlying

There are a few things I explicitly need to put out into the universe:

1. I want to travel and write. And I would love to be paid to do it. I'm currently working up a pitch to the trekking company I went to Nepal with but if you guys have any other ideas or tips for me on how to achieve this dream I'd love to hear it.

2. I will be co-hosting a real life workshop for small creative business owners this summer. And I need you guys to attend. It started with the idea of having a slumber party for artistpreneurs and freelancers at my place (wouldn't that be fun!?) but came to fruition when I was approached by this smart gal about collaborating on something even bigger. I can't wait to share more. The logistics are still being hammered out so stay tuned for details. But I'm still open to the idea of having a slumber party. F'reals.

3. I want to go on more adventures (big & small) with Jeremy.
I want to document them here with photos, words and video. Specifically, I think it would be fun if we hopped on a train for a week or so and spent our time writing music, drinking tea, making out and crafting master plans. (Inspired by The Darjeeling Limited and Meg's recent Amtrak adventure.)

4. But I also want to feel enthusiastic and comfortable in the daily grind. Lately, my head is so far in the future that I get impatient and irritable with the here & now.

5. I want to work exclusively with small creative microbusinesses and artistpreneurs through Braid Creative - both in branding and content sharing. Tara, my business partner in crime, and I are crafting a way to do this. In fact, we're doing our Braid Method on ourselves in order to clarify our own brand and offerings. I want to bring more of myself into Braid and offer things like eCourses, eBooks, and emails directly to your inbox.

6. I want a uniform.
My Anatomy of an Outfit series may have to evolve to accommodate my desire to completely strip my wardrobe of color and exclusively wear lots of layers of grey and black.

That's it. Just six little things. Are you listening, universe? Let's do this.

  2. It appears we share the same dream! I want to travel and write as well... and be paid for it! I am currently also trying to muster up the courage to pitch to magazines. Good luck! Let us know how you get on. x

  3. I love all your thoughts and I definitely share most of them! My heart is constantly torn between all the wildly exciting dreams I have locally and my not-so-distant world travel plans. P.S. Im so in for a creative ladies sleepover when it happens. I need, need, NEED more women like that in my life. : )

  10. 1. I think if you start travelling and blogging (such as you did for Nepal) you might have someone approach you. Or maybe you could pitch to Lonely Planet, depending on the type of travel and writing you want to do. They have these great mini guides called Encounter (I used them in French when living in France and buying books from the local bookshops there). They need people to write those and expand the collection (I think).

    3. I was totally thinking of Meg's Amtrak adventure before getting to the part where you link her. Anna from Little Red Boat did the same thing at the end of her stay in SF before moving back to England. She did a cool postcard contest called the Snailr project.

    6. I think a life uniform is something to aspire to.

  12. This all sounds so familiar- do you think it's our generation that is so geared towards adventure and the urge to never sit still? We'll sit with friends and you never here anyone say, I'm good with just hanging here doing the same ol' grind, we all want more- to do more, to see more, to live more, etc.

  13. Number one on your list is my ultimate goal, too! My husband (a photographer) and I have all of these crazy schemes... we love talking about them, but we need to DO THEM. Thanks for the inspiration. Your energy is contagious! xo.

  15. There is a company contracts to Teach something (Whatever your skills are in) on cruise ships, going through Europe, or cross Atlantic/Pacific, to which they pay for the Travel and Board for you and a partner, and in turn you would provide a seminar for about an hour or 2. Something to look into?

You had talked to me about setting up a workshop, I'm still interested, keep me on your list!........i like slumber parties :)

When you don't have to worry about what your wearing it makes life easier.

  17. ahhh! i would love to have a slumber party! i'm very interested!

i always feel the first step (to anyting) is putting it out into the universe. it somewhat holds you accountable. especially, if you tell people and they take you up on it (ie, running a half marathon).

    the universe hears you!

  18. I feel like the immortal words of Nacho Libre are the only words that can adequately describe how I feel right now. "You gotta be kidding me. Everything you just said, is MY favourite thing to do, every day!" I want all of these things as well.

  19. Look at all of this! I felt the urge to respond. All of these lovely people above me felt the urge to respond! So you KNOW the universe is gonna respond! :)

This post was awesomely inspiring, Miss Kathleen. And, just one more of many reasons that I feel so freakin' blessed to have met you! J'adore you!

Can't wait to hear more about the slumber party!

  20. I love reading the comments from the folks cheering you on just as much as I loved reading your post.

I've got some ideas to help you along with #1 and #5. I'll send them along. And only six little things? The universe is going to deliver this and so much more to you. I'm SURE of it.
