French Press and Fiber Art
Ah, the weekend. Even working as my own boss the weekend brings with it the promise of chilling the eff out. Jeremy and I slept in this morning until 7:45 when grey skies and rolls of thunder in the distance gently woke us from a night of dreams about train rides and embarrassing bathroom situations. Followed up with a breakfast of sweet potatoes and eggs, over-easy, and a cup of French pressed and freshly ground coffee. Clearly, I haven't weened myself off the sweet comfort of caffeine.
Afterwards Jeremy dropped me off for an hour of sweaty asanas while he worked on his pushes at the YMCA. It's the perfect beginning to a happy weekend.
Over the next 36 hours I'm looking forward to:
• Painting a big hot pink + on my living room wall
• Hanging the fiber art I scored in Palm Springs
• House hunting (investment / rental property)
• Watching a scary movie or two
• Eating some coconut + cayenne cocoa balls (recipe to be featured on Design Crush soon!)
• Another cup of coffee
• More yoga
• Reading Brene Brown's Daring Greatly (so far, so good - highly recommended)
What are you all up to this weekend?
I bought a new car! And I'm going to see War Horse tomorrow evening on stage (with the giant mechanical puppets!).
ReplyDeleteI start a new job the 22nd and have an unreliable little compact. it actually broke down on me on my way to the second interview for the job I'm starting in a week. I wasn't planning on buying today, but ...
Kristin - Congrats on your new car and your new job! Both of our cars are almost a decade old with lots and lots of miles. I often get struck with car lust - but then swing to the other end of the spectrum and consider maybe giving up driving altogether! (It's just not realistic in OKC, though). Have fun at War Horse!
ReplyDeleteSound lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteI went to Girl Crush Philly today! It was brilliant. I'm told I'll be more formally introduced to you in a forthcoming email, ha!
ReplyDelete-Lisa
Yesterday I went to watch "Them!" with a friend, and then came home and helped the hubby organize his office. After that we spent some time working on Smithsonian's "Great American History Puzzle" together - we didn't get far but it was really fun! Today was so beautiful that I spent a good chunk doing yard work... lots of playing in the dirt! Even was motivated to turn over the compost and work some of the soil in one of the beds. Now, it's all about the food... making chili with lots of fresh veggies, and going to learn how to make a pumpkin into puree... it's been a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteLisa - Get out! Danielle is pretty much one of my favorite people in the whole world. Looking forward to emailing. :)
ReplyDeleteAMG / Heather - The weather today WAS gorgeous! We ended up going for a long walk this morning, kicking it with family and then going for a climb. I think I'm about to make some butternut squash soup. I'm all about learning how to make some pumpkin puree. And some chili sounds pretty amazing right about now. Happy weekend! XO
What an eventful & nice weekend! I'm super curious about these coconut & cayenne cocoa balls!... can't wait for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteI saw one of my favorite bands, Dry the River, in San Francisco this weekend. :D And I practiced making my thanksgiving dressing!
Sounds nice! So what's the story behind the +?
ReplyDeleteHey....
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you might post a bit about your rental property adventures? Or maybe I have missed previous postings... hmmm.
Anyway, I'd love to hear about how you got interested and what advice you might have.
Thanks!
Tara
Latrina - I'll have to check out Dry the River!
ReplyDeleteFrancine - I wanted something iconic. I considered an American flag but a big Red Cross style + was easier to paint.
Airstreamdiva - I wrote about it pretty extensively here but I'm thinking about revisiting the topic soon. Read this post and let me know if you have any additional questions that I should address:

Thanks for the link... that is exactly what I was hoping for. I'm doing a similar thing with a duplex in Houston (I live in one side) but I'd like to expand the "rental empire" in the future.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week...
